Thank you for your art.

One of the most inspiring things that has come out of COVID-19 is the art you are creating. Yes, YOU. Everyday I’ve been amazed to receive a new text from someone showing me the art they have created with their kids or on their own. It’s incredible how this isolation and free time, this bounty of extra “space,” is becoming a canvas that you all are turning in to art. It is a gift, so keep the pictures coming!

Did you know all these benefits of creating art?

  • Can help children become better students

  • Improves the quality of life for seniors

  • Help ease anxiety

  • Boosts your self esteem

  • Relieves stress

  • Provides a sense of accomplishment

  • Enhances problem solving

  • Makes you more observant

I challenge you during this time to create some art. You don’t have to have expensive supplies. Pull out the old Crayola set or some magazines and create. The goal is not to make a masterpiece; the goal is to express yourself.

But before you start — make note of your feelings. Then, when you finish, note your feelings again. What was the shift? How can you use that shift in other areas of your life? Did the shift teach you about an area of your life that needed to be recalibrated? This time of isolation can be challenging, stressful, and anxiety-ridden, so we can use the gift of creating to soothe some of those feelings.

I know life isn’t easy right now, but it’s better with art, I promise. I can’t wait to hear what benefits you noticed art creating for you. And please, keep the pictures coming.
