Do you ever feel like the climb seems daunting? It’s so much easier to sit on the couch, wait, think, and hope for the next best thing to come your way — than to work for it. We all want to be at the top of the mountain, but who actually enjoys the climb?
When I’m in a slump or a period of downtime, that’s exactly how I think. The climb is thoroughly intimidating. But once I start making the trek, I find that the climb actually isn’t as bad as my imagination made it out to be. I enjoy finding ways to blaze “switchback” trails within the mountain, traversing back and forth as I make steady progress, all the while feeling the burn.
There’s something about the burn that makes me want to keep going. I am one of those people that once I am in, I am all in and won’t quit. But that doesn’t mean it isn’t hard or uncertain. I guess that is what makes us grow.
So, as I climb this mountain ahead, taking on a new season of creating, communicating, and collaborating, I invite you to join me. See where I am headed, what path will unfold, what small moments I’ll take hold of, and who I’ll meet along the way. It’s all unknown, scary, and somewhat intimidating, but if I remind myself that feeling the burn is always worth it, I’m confident I’ll come out “on top of the mountain” in the end. I hope you’ll meet me there!
